I hear a lot of people complain about PS3 not having bc and some even go to the point as to not buy a PS3 at all do to it missing this factor. Let me start off by saying that is ridiculous! First of all, it was a smart financial move for sony to drop bc due to the extra cost it was brining to the PS3. Removing the PS2 emulator lowered production costs for the PS3 allowing them to lower the selling price. Next point is when you think about the PS2 in some European countries the PS2 still out sells the xbox 360 and still sells substantially well all over the world. With the PS2 being in its 10th year of development selling the units at 99$ is not only a cheap console option for consumers but is straight profit for Sony. Secondly, who cares!!! There's a reason why people call this gen “next generation”. Why would you want to play outdated ps2 games when there are so many great “next gen” ps3 titles?? I mean i have a BC PS3 and havent played one single PS2 game on it. For those so worried about playing your huge library of PS2 games well if you have the games you probably still have a ps2!! Play them on your ps2!! Or a get a new slim model for 99$!! Microsoft kept bc for the 360 but if it didnt then that would be a the real outrage for those of you who bought a xbox only to have it killed off entirely in only 4 short years. I had my PS2 for more than 6 years before it finally stopped reading discs, then i got a slim before the PS3 came out and my slim PS2 works just fine so im pretty tired of PS2 games after nearly 9 years of it. If your one of those people holding back from buying a PS3 due to bc then do yourself a favor and get a PS3 for its great line up of "next gen" titles, blu-ray, web browser, Free PSN, PS1 downloadable games, built in wifi, netflix, etc etc....
